Kasauli is a small, beautiful hill station of Himachal Pradesh located at a distance of 77 kms from Shimla situated at a height of 1927mt., from sea level. Built in 19th century by Britishers, the city has its own charm and beauty. Covered by the beautiful pine forests, orchards and high hills, Kasauli is described as the picturesque hill-station of Northern India.

This pretty little hill town is ideal for long walks along wild-flower-hedged winding roads. Kasauli provide a charming view of Chandigarh, Shimla and the himalayas covered with snow. It's main ttraction lies in it's overall cleanliness, and it's accessibility. Kasauli is a pleasant alternative to staying in Shimla; it is devoid of its crowds and is still close enough.

 

What To See

 

 

Monkey Point : Monkey point is the highest point, located at a distance of 4 km walk trip from the town. It gets its name from the steep cliff that only monkeys can negotiate. The point gives panoramic view of the plains of Chandigarh and the river Satluj. Apart from the natural beauty the point is also a famous for the Lord Hanuman (Hindu Deity) temple on the top of the hill. 


Sanawar: Located at a distance of Just 6-km from Kasauli, Sanawar houses one of the best schools in the country. The Lawrence school is almost one hundred-years-old, started by Sir Henry Lawrence and a major attraction of the town.

 

The Christ Church : Fifty years ago, left by British an attractive Christ Church is still unspoiled. The Christ Church, is a typically Anglican structure of the period and its foundation stone laid in 1844. The grey stone church set amongst verdant green makes a very pretty picture.


Dharampur: Just 15-km from Kasauli on the National Highway No.22, Dharampur is situated. Amidst the healthy air of the fragrant pines.It is also connected by Kalka-Shimla railway line.
Sabathu: A little cantonment town has a Gurkha fort built in the early years of the 19th century, situated at an altitude of 1,437m. This cantonment town quartered the British soldiers at the time of British Empire. A diversion road from Dharampur 15-km away leads to the Sabathu town.

 

Dagshai ( 19 km) : Dagshai is located at just 19-km from Kasauli and 1925 m above the sea level, is a small cantonment.. It of many military public school and barracks.

 

Best time to visit Kasauli

 

There is no bad time , to take a tour to Kasauli. Its open to tourist in all the seasons and weathers. Its proximity to the plains makes it more accessible compare to any other hill station of Himachal.  But, April To September is a ideal time for visit.

 

How to reach

 

By Air : From Kasauli the nearest airport is Chandigarh.


By Rail : Nearest railhead is Kalka in Haryana, which is 40-km from Kasauli and 44-km from Solan.


By Road : Solan and Kasauli are well connected by road buses, coaches and taxis are also easily available from Chandigarh and Delhi.
